The 7 Best Breakfast Eateries Around L.A.

Best Breakfast Eateries Around Los Angeles

I want to share my list of the best breakfast eateries in Los Angeles and its surrounding neighborhoods.  I have chosen these restaurants based on their price, customer service and quality of food.  Here’s a list of my local favorites places to eat:

Los Angeles Airport

The Coffee Company

Location: 8751 La Tijera Blvd., Westchester, CA 90045

By far this is the best breakfast place near LAX Airport.  The restaurant is perfect for grabbing a bite to eat before you head out of town.  If you’re looking for a hearty breakfast option than my suggestion is the “Classic 2 Egg Breakfast” with the turkey maple sausage.  If you’re not counting calories sample one of their buttermilk biscuits with jam or honey.

In addition, to the standard American style breakfast, they also offer lite and vegetarian options.  Reasonable prices and close proximity to the Airport also bring in a crowd. Plan ahead and go before 9:00 a.m. to avoid the rush hour period.  For more information Visit Website.

Santa Monica

Jinky’s Cafe

Location: 1447 2nd Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401

Before you begin shopping at the 3rd Street Promenade, stop in at Jinky’s Cafe.  The cafe offers a wide selection of breakfast options and is great for an early morning pit stop.  My favorite selection is the breakfast sandwich (sourdough bread, eggs, tomato, cheese, and bacon) with fresh fruit.

To shed the morning calories walk to the nearby Santa Monica Pier and or beach where you can watch locals fish or walk along the bike path and enjoy the ocean view.  For more information  Visit Website.

Culver City

The Overland

Location: 3601 Overland Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90034

The Overland cafe provides a young, L.A. vibe with upbeat music and a relaxed atmosphere.  Most breakfast entrees include fresh fruit, potatoes, brown rice or sliced tomato, with toast.  If you visit during the weekend for an additional $8.99 you can enjoy champagne with your brunch.  For more information Visit Website.

Places to visit near The Overland Cafe are Sony Picture Studios (guided tour) and Kenneth Hahn Park.

Koreatown

The Kimbap

Location: 400 S. Wester Ave. #102, Los Angeles, CA 90020

If you want to try the traditional Kimbap (Korean rolls) then this is the place to visit.  My personal favorite is the tuna kimbap (tuna, mayonnaise, egg, carrot, pickled radish, sesame leaf) with a side of Miyeok Guk (seaweed soup).  There are meatless options available that include stir-fried mushroom, kimchi, cheese, fishcake, and sesame leaf.

H-Mart

Bonus Location: 621 S. Western Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90005

If you’re looking to cook your own breakfast menu and are craving Korean food check out this grocery store.  Pick up ready-made kimchi, pickled radish, eggs, rice, miso soup, and banana milk.  For more information Visit Website.

Downtown Los Angeles

Eggslut – Grand Central Market

Location: 317 S. Broadway, Stall D-1., Los Angeles, CA 90013

If you want cage-free eggs to be the main focus for your breakfast selection than this is the place to try.  Their sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients all wrapped in a warmly baked bun.  As an alternative menu option if you’re watching your calories they offer to turn any sandwich into a salad at no additional cost.

A popular menu item is the “Slut” which includes cage-free coddled egg on top of potato puree encased inside a glass jar with slices of baguette bread.  For more information Visit Website.

North Hollywood

Porto’s Bakery

Location: 3614 West Magnolia Blvd., Burbank, CA 91505

An alternative option for a dine-in breakfast place is Porto’s Bakery.  Before you head over to Universal Studios stop in and grab Porto’s signature potato balls.  The potato ball includes mashed potatoes, savory beef all wrapped in crispy breadcrumbs. A perfect to go order includes pairing with Porto’s coffee and other selected baked pastries.  For more information Visit Website.

The Federal Bar (Weekend Brunch Special)

Location: 5303 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, CA 91601

Experience a fulfilling breakfast in this 1930’s prohibition era themed brick wall building.  My favorite meal choice is the standard “The Fed’s Hat Trick” which includes bacon, eggs, and home fried potatoes.

They also offer a lighter option with the Salmon Bagel Board smoked salmon, toasted bagel, brie cheese, hard boiled egg, tomato, red onion, and capers.  The real winner here is the bottomless mimosas served during the weekend plus one entree option for only twenty dollars per person.

While you enjoy your breakfast play a game guessing which movies and TV shows have been filmed at this location.   Find street parking on Lankershim Blvd and the nearby residential streets.  If you can’t make it to breakfast my favorite lunch order is the Chicken Wings (hot sauce with blue cheese wedges) and Bacon Brussel Sprouts.
